History of Guinness beer: An adventure through the centuries
What a way to end the year! On December 31, 1759, Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease for the St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland. His New Year's resolution was therefore a little bigger than usual, which is not surprising given his product. Arthur's Guinness beer has now traveled through time for 267 years, leaving 8,733 years until the upcoming lease renewal. Well then, _Sl?inte!_ Brief overview: Guinness beer from then to now? 1755: Arthur Guinness began brewing beer for the first time ? 1759: Arthur Guinness signed the lease for James's Gate in Dublin ? From 1769: Export of the long-lasting stout, first to England, then worldwide ? 1799: Complete switch to the successful dark porter (stout)
? 1959: Introduction of nitrogen additive for a creamy, smooth finish ? 1989: Introduction of the Guinness Sphere for creamy foam even in canned beer ? 1997: Founding of Finnegan Events, the event service with a penchant for Guinness in Germany Arthur Guinness: Irish beer connoisseur with a grand vision
Guinness founder Arthur Guinness' passion for really good beer did not come out of nowhere: his father Richard was most likely the master brewer for Dr. Arthur Price, who later became Archbishop of Cashel. Until its merger with the British beverage company Diageo in 1997, the company remained firmly in family hands. Six generations have passed since then, and even today, family members still hold shares in the company, which gives them a certain amount of influence. Spotlight on enjoyment: What is so special about Guinness beer? It is no coincidence that Guinness beer has survived the centuries so brilliantly: Any product that conquers the market in the long term needs enthusiastic consumers--and that is undoubtedly the case with the popular Guinness. The unique selling points of this modern beer specialty with historical roots appeal even to discerning palates. That is what makes beer from the Guinness Brewery so special: ? Creamy texture through the use of nitrogen in addition to carbon dioxide
? Dark color due to carefully roasted, flavorful barley ? Sweet roasted aromas with a gentle bitterness reminiscent of coffee and dark chocolate ? "Two-part pour" method from the barrel for a thick head ? Iconic character in color, taste, and historic brand design with golden harp
Why is there a ball in Guinness beer? The small capsule in Guinness canned beer, also known as a widget, releases nitrogen when the can is opened, creating fine bubbles and simulating the effect of tapping from a barrel. This gives the beer the texture of a fresh draft beer with a creamy head. A Guinness can as the world's smallest mobile Irish pub
Speaking of Guinness from a can: Guinness has been making history again in Germany for several years now. That's because Finnegan Event's smallest mobile Irish pub has been rolling across the country, providing beer lovers with authentic Irish delights. No matter where the can with its tap and bar appears, it causes a stir and makes everyone thirsty.
The mini pub can be rented for all kinds of events, from wedding celebrations to corporate events, from concerts to city festivals. The advantages: a grand entrance with minimal space requirements - and mega enjoyment in a pint. Of course, other beers can also flow from the tap; that's entirely up to the organizer. How about Kilkenny or a delicious local beer, for example?
Can you buy Guinness in Germany? All Guinness beers are available in Germany; you just need to find a good beverage retailer or supermarket. Who else sells Guinness in Germany? The party service Finnegan Events will of course serve Guinness on request and is happy to provide the appropriate Irish decorations, experienced staff, and live music. These are the core varieties: _ * _Guinness Draught: the well-known, creamy-smooth beer_ * _Guinness Extra Stout: the strong version based on an old recipe_ * _Guinness Foreign Extra Stout: the extra-strong export version_
* _Guinness non-alcoholic: also known as "Guinness 0.02," available in Germany since 2025_ _ In addition, German beer lovers can also buy lesser-known Guinness beers such as Hop House 13 Lager, Guinness Nitro IPA, and Guinness Golden Ale. But to get your hands on them, you usually have to search for a while--or alternatively, make a quick inquiry with Finnegan Events. _
These are the highlights from the history of the Guinness brewery The first Guinness began flowing to England as early as 1769, and by 1839 Guinness was the largest brewery in Ireland. In 1886, Edward Guinness went public on the London Stock Exchange and sold 65% of his share capital for a staggering ?6 million. Before World War I swept across Europe, the company had become the largest brewery in the world. The historic St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin still exists today, and it is still the world's largest stout brewery and the heart of Guinness production. The Irish beer is drunk and enjoyed in more than 150 countries - and to ensure freshness at all times, Guinness has spread its breweries across several locations around the world. Since 1985, Guinness has also been producing Irish whiskey: At that time, the company acquired the Scottish distillery Arthur Bell & Sons, followed by the Distillers Company the following year - both companies merged under the name "United Distillers." The Irish soul is baptized with beer and whiskey - that's why the event service Finnegan Events also offers exquisite whiskeys with a princely aroma and whiskey tastings in a cozy atmosphere.
_Guinness is the official beer of which soccer league? _ _Since June 2024, Guinness has been the official beer of the Premier League, England's top soccer league. This is the first time the Irish brewery has entered into a global partnership. _
Why is Guinness beer so healthy? Good for body and soul The Irish beer contains polyphenols from hops, which are effective antioxidants that can protect the cardiovascular system and the intestines. The dark beer contains B vitamins, potassium, phosphorus, and folic acid for the metabolism and nervous system. In moderate amounts, Guinness also provides soluble fiber for the intestines. However, it is important to note the alcohol content, which can negate the positive health effects. So, it is better to enjoy it in moderation to pamper your body and soul. Ireland, Guinness, and lots of partying: that's Finnegan Events The Finnegan Events team has been bringing Irish party spirit and conviviality to Germany since 1997. The event service provider organizes a wide range of events or contributes to successful events. The focus is on the Emerald Isle with all its treasures, from Guinness to shepherd's pie to Irish folk music. On request, the event specialists can also do something completely different: an individual program can be quickly arranged in a non-binding consultation.
