"What could be better than discovering nature in all its facets? From butterflies in species-rich meadows to the songs of birds - nature has countless wonders in store," says Frank Uwe Pfuhl from the NABU Umweltwerkstatt. Together with his team of biologists, nature educators and landscape ecologists, he has put together the program for 2026, which promises many discoveries.
Whether reading tracks in the snow, identifying native songbirds or the fascinating world of mushrooms: the NABU nature guide training provides a practical and in-depth understanding of the ecological relationships in our natural world. The program is aimed both at laypeople interested in nature and at people who would like to pass on their knowledge in schools, clubs or on public tours.
Flexible course system: Wetterau or L?neburg
NABU Umweltwerkstatt is offering three different routes to certification for 2026:
* "Individual" series (Wetterau): Start in March with two courses running in parallel. In addition to two compulsory modules, participants can set their own individual focus with four elective modules from 18 different elective topics - from forest ecology to ornithology.
* Intensive" series (L?neburg): Compact teaching of the content over three block weekends.
* New in 2026: Special course "Nature education"
The "Nature Education" certificate course will be offered for the first time. This is specifically tailored to the needs of educators, teachers and group leaders who want to professionally integrate the natural environment into their everyday educational work.
The Umweltwerkstatt also offers an "online flat rate" for individual modules for those who are only interested in selective further training.
Invitation to the online information evening
To clarify all questions regarding content, dates and certification, a free online information evening will be held on January 15, 2026 at 7 pm. Registration is possible via the website. For anyone who misses the event, the recording will be made available online afterwards.
Further information on the training series is available on the website www.NABU-Naturfuehrer.de.
