Due to their self-emissive nature, AMOLED displays excel in contrast, capable of producing deep blacks and vibrant, vivid colors-a feat traditional LCD displays struggle to match. Take Samsung's AMOLED displays, for example, which achieve a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, delivering a more immersive visual experience when watching videos or playing games.

Additionally, AMOLED displays have extremely fast response times, typically under 1 millisecond, compared to the tens of milliseconds of LCD displays. When displaying dynamic scenes, AMOLED displays effectively reduce motion blur and ghosting, providing a smoother visual experience, making them highly favored in the gaming display sector. Furthermore, AMOLED displays offer an extremely wide viewing angle, with colors and contrast remaining consistent from nearly any angle, making them ideal for multiple viewers. Additionally, due to their lack of a backlight, AMOLED displays can be made thinner and lighter. When displaying black screens, pixels can be completely turned off, significantly reducing power consumption and extending device battery life.

In the smartphone sector, AMOLED displays are widely adopted. According to Omdia's "Smartphone Model Market Tracking Report," smartphones equipped with AMOLED display panels accounted for 63% of global shipments in the first quarter of 2025, a significant increase from 57% in the same period last year. Among these, flexible AMOLED display panels are rapidly becoming the mainstream display technology for smartphones. During this quarter, the shipment volume of smartphones equipped with flexible AMOLED display panels reached 151 million units, representing a year-over-year increase of 15%. Apple and Samsung are leading the way in this field. Data from the first quarter of 2025 shows that Apple's AMOLED model penetration rate has reached 100% (with the discontinuation of the third-generation iPhone SE at the end of 2024, Apple has completely phased out LCD models), while Samsung accounts for 84%. As Chinese display panel manufacturers expand their production capacity, the supply of AMOLED display panels continues to grow, with the technology beginning to penetrate more affordable price ranges. In the first quarter of 2025, the average selling price (ASP) of AMOLED smartphones had dropped to $510, further driving the adoption of AMOLED displays in the smartphone market.

In the TV market, AMOLED displays are also gaining traction. While LCD TVs currently dominate the market, AMOLED TVs are attracting increasing attention from consumers due to their superior picture quality. Especially in the mid-to-high-end TV market, the market share of AMOLED TVs is steadily increasing.
