Brisbane Airbnb Hosts and Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Owners & Operators Urged to Attend Critical Industry Meeting

STAAA Webinar Information

STAAA Webinar Information

The Short Term Accommodation Association Australia (STAAA) is calling on Brisbane Airbnb hosts and short-term rental accommodation (STRA) owners and operators to attend an urgent online meeting to discuss the Brisbane City Council's proposed Short Stay Accommodation Local Law.

Following an initial review, STAAA has identified several concerning aspects of the draft law. Contrary to public messaging, the proposed legislation effectively prevents many operators including everyday hosts, small "mum and dad" operators and even compliant high-density STRA owners, from obtaining the required permit to participate in Brisbane's visitor economy.

The association will outline the issues, present its formal policy position and discuss next steps for industry advocacy.

Meeting Details:

Thursday, 18 December 2025
5.30pm AEST
Online via Zoom

"This is a critical opportunity for Brisbane STRA owners and operators to understand what these changes mean and how STAAA is fighting for a fair, balanced and evidence based outcome," said Keiran Craig-Jones, Executive Director of STAAA. "We encourage all affected hosts and operators to join us to ensure their voices are heard."
