Dr. Khanal's journey to founding GRIT was shaped by his own struggles with academic and professional exclusion in Nepal. Rather than letting these setbacks define him, he turned the adversity into motivation, creating a powerful movement that empowers researchers worldwide.

The guiding philosophy of GRIT is clear: "Research should not have any border. Researchers are equal, no matter where they are born." This belief has cemented GRIT's status as a global academic institution dedicated to democratizing research.

GRIT: The Essential Bridge

GRIT provides free, high-quality research support to scholars from all corners of the world, with a particular focus on those from underserved regions like the Global South. The organization offers free one-on-one expert consultations, academic discussion forums, and access to high-quality training programs at a minimum cost.

In just two years, the organization built from scratch now provides full-time employment to nine staff members, offers part-time and contractual work to more than 18 professionals, and collaborates with over 200 research experts. GRIT has expanded its reach to scholars in more than 50 countries, building one of the largest and most diverse academic ecosystems.

GRIT further solidifies its commitment to knowledge dissemination by publishing two international peer-reviewed journals. This focus provides a crucial bridge between promising research and the stringent requirements of high-impact global journals.
