It also exhibits outstanding mechanical strength, with an elongation at break of 100%-300%, making it suitable for long-term aeration conditions such as membrane bioreactors (MBRs). PVDF hollow fiber membranes are primarily used in municipal wastewater treatment (such as nitrogen and phosphorus removal in MBR processes), industrial wastewater treatment (such as printing and dyeing, and electronic wastewater), and drinking water purification, particularly for applications requiring high levels of fouling and chemical resistance. However, its cost is higher than that of PP membranes, and its hydrophilicity requires further modification (such as plasma treatment and coating) to optimize water flux.
