In January 2022, an alliance was formed between Drone Works, a Japanese Drone enterprise, and H3 Dynamics, an air mobility tech firm based in Singapore, to construct a drone powered by hydrogen. Integrated into the drone developed by H3 Dynamics is an Aerostak hydrogen fuel cell system that includes a special grade proton-exchange membrane fuel cell stack, control electronics, and lightweight housings with built-in air conditioning fans along with a LiPo (lithium-ion polymer)-compatible hybrid electronic board. This type of drone, being lighter and powered by hydrogen, can stay airborne for a longer period than those drones fuelled by lithium batteries.
