"JOURNEY BEYOND THE GRID" MAKES FILM FESTIVAL ROUNDS AMID GROWING CLIMATE CONCERNS
MAUI, HI (October 28, 2025) - Journey Beyond the Grid, a powerful 13-minute short documentary by filmmaker Stephan Boeker, is making its way through the film festival circuit this season, with several wins and official selections throughout the West Coast.
At the center of this striking documentary is David Sellers, a visionary architect shaped by Alaska's untamed wilderness and a lifelong pursuit of sustainable, off-grid living. Once dismissed as an eccentric idealist, David's radical approach to self-sufficient design becomes a beacon of hope after wildfire devastates the historic town of Lahaina, Hawaii. As his convictions are tested against climate-driven catastrophe, his journey from fringe outsider to community cornerstone unfolds in real-time.
Journey Beyond the Grid captures a pivotal shift in how we perceive environmental preparedness. As Hawaii faces its climate reckoning, this film offers a deeply personal and timely reflection on resilience, innovation, and the urgent need to rethink how we build, live, and survive.
