"These are not just numbers," Campbell explained. "They represent men and women who stood up for all of us. Now it's our turn to stand up for them."

Campbell regularly volunteers at food pantries and homeless shelters that target U.S. veterans. He believes the solutions start close to home.

"Not everyone can run a national program. But everyone can do something. Donate food. Volunteer a few hours a month. Reach out to a veteran you know and just listen," he said.

Research backs this up. Studies show that communities with active local volunteer support programs reduce veteran homelessness by up to 50%. Simple actions, like mentorship, transportation assistance, and job referrals, make a lasting difference.
