The UK business and commerce market is seeing trends of companies leaning on suppliers of day to day office products and printer cartridges to help ease the uncertain cash flow due to the current credit squeeze and business worries.

Handling the company cash flow in a well balanced in productive manner is a vital part of any business whether large or small but when forecasters see difficult times ahead for any company it can sometimes lead to no alternative but to turn to where a company spends its budget to look for vital cost cuttings.

Behind staff, buildings and utility costs often the first port of call is seen as the office consumables spend and with stationery and office furniture accounting for large amounts of an office budget they are all too often the first to attract management attention.
The office supplies market is seen as one of the most competitive around, most business (particularly those in busy city centres) will be regularly canvassed by stationery salesman looking to win more business so sometimes it can be interpreted as an easy way on the face of things to reduce costs. Many office products dealers are experiencing more and more customers applying pressure to reduce their prices on popular lines such as paper, envelopes, laser printer cartridges and filing products including lever arch files and ring binders etc because customers in turn are seeing internal cash flow pressures.
In some cases this can lead to unworkable margins being asked for by customers resulting in unattainable service levels and delivery schedules being affected by the incumbent supplier.
