Founded in 1789, KAMADA SOY SAUCE Inc. (Sakaide, Kagawa, Japan; President: Takeo Kamada) has obtained FSSC 22000, a globally recognized food safety management standard, in the summer of 2025.With over 230 years of history, the company is now strengthening its commitment to food safety and aiming to expand its presence in international markets.
Delivering Traditional Flavors with Global Safety Standards
Kamada has long been known for its signature "Dashi Soy Sauce" - a pioneer product that blends soy sauce and dashi which is a traditional soup stock made from bonito and kelp that forms the foundation of Japanese cuisine. This innovation simplified home cooking and helped establish a new category of seasoning in the domestic market. In addition to ISO 9001 and HACCP certifications, Kamada has recently obtained FSSC 22000 at both Honmachi and Minato Factories, establishing a comprehensive and internationally recognized food safety management system.
This system covers not only internal manufacturing processes but also supplier audits, hygienic storage of packaging materials such as paper cartons, and other safety protocols aligned with global standards. Through these efforts, Kamada continues to deliver its signature products with enhanced safety and reliability.
Sharing Japan's Culinary Heritage with the World
In recent years, Kamada has been actively pursuing international expansion through participation in trade shows, business meetings, and product development tailored to local regulations and preferences. The company also shares multilingual product information and recipes via its website and social media platforms.
Recognizing the importance of global food safety standards, Kamada established a dedicated Food Safety Team in 2024, consisting of around 20 members from its technical and production departments. This team led the development of internal policies and manuals aligned with FSSC 22000, culminating in the successful certification.
Kamada remains committed to continuous improvement in quality control and employee education, aiming to promote soy sauce as a traditional Japanese seasoning and to share the rich diversity and depth of Japan's food culture from Kagawa to the world.
