From Doing the Work to Helping Others Get Found for It

Long before founding EightySix Digital, Stu Clark spent over a decade running his own plumbing and renovations business in the UK. He knows exactly what life in the trades is like, early starts, long hours, and the constant challenge of keeping the work coming in.

While running his business, Stu learned how powerful a good website and online presence could be. He taught himself how to build a site, improve its visibility, and get more enquiries coming through. Over time, those skills became as valuable to him as his tools.

After moving to New Zealand with his partner, whose job often involves travelling, Stu wanted a new career path that offered freedom and flexibility. But he also wanted to build something with integrity, a direct response to the hype and unrealistic promises often aimed at tradespeople by marketing companies and so-called business coaches.

"I have been in their shoes," Stu says. "It's frustrating when someone promises overnight results, takes your money, and then disappears. I knew I could do things differently."

Using his trade experience and self-taught marketing skills, Stu began helping construction and trades businesses improve their visibility online. He focused on straightforward, effective strategies and clear communication, no jargon, no gimmicks, and no false promises.

That philosophy became the core of EightySix Digital.

Today, working from Dunedin or remotely while travelling, Stu supports clients across New Zealand and overseas. His approach remains the same as when he first started, be honest, put in the work, and focus on helping good businesses get found by the right customers.

For Stu, it's about more than just marketing. It's about creating genuine, trustworthy support for an industry he knows inside out.
