THE FORWARD PROMOTES AMI EDEN TO EXECUTIVE EDITOR

NEW YORK, January 31, 2006 – The Forward, American Jewry’s top weekly national newspaper, is promoting Ami Eden, news director, to the newly created position of executive editor.

In addition to continuing to coordinate the Forward’s news coverage, he will work on enhancing other sections of the newspaper and developing new editorial products. Starting this week, Ami will also begin writing a bi-monthly column for the newspaper’s editorial page focusing on Jewish affairs.

Ami, who grew up in Philadelphia, joined the Forward as a reporter in 2000 with a background in covering religion and politics. Previously, he was a reporter and editor at the Jewish Exponent in Philadelphia. Ami's work has also appeared in The New York Times, Ha’aretz, The Philadelphia City Paper, Philadelphia Magazine, The Toledo Blade and Jewish newspapers across the country.

“Ami has contributed to the depth and quality of our reporting which has generated a 40 percent increase in readership over the past five years,” explains J.J. Goldberg, the Forward’s editor-in-chief. “The entire staff joins me in congratulating Ami on his new role.”

Ami graduated from Brown University in 1995, with a B.A. in American History and Judaic Studies.
