NDIR sensors use the infrared absorption properties of gas molecules (e.g., CO2) to calculate their concentration. The interference part must either be tested for compensation (to avoid false measurements) or avoided by clever selection of spectral ranges. With the NDIR sensor, more than 100 different gases can be detected from ppm to percentage. In many applications, this is the preferred method because the measurement method is non-contact and non-consuming.
