Every Print with a Purpose: John Scala Photography Donates 100% of Profits to Oceana.org
Garden City, NY - 10 July 2025 - In a gesture of the heart that combines photography and advocacy, John Scala Photography is pleased to announce that 100% of the profit from all photographs printed will be donated to Oceana.org - an influential international nonprofit organization committed exclusively to ocean protection.John Scala, a fine art photographer and avid environmentalist, is convinced that creativity is a powerful force for good. By making his photography a medium for change, Scala challenges art enthusiasts and nature enthusiasts alike to make each purchase count-literally-for the world.
"This is not photography, it's using art to give back to the Earth that sparks it", states John Scala. "I have always had a strong affinity for the ocean, and Oceana is an opportunity for me to translate that into action."
Why Oceana?
The ocean's not only a source of beauty-it's life itself. It sustains us, controls our climate, and provides a sense of serenity that many of us are desperate for in an increasingly fast-paced world. But today, our oceans are suffering-with overfishing and pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. That's why John Scala decided to stand behind Oceana.org.
Oceana is not just a nonprofit organization-it's a worldwide movement of scientists, activists, and ordinary citizens uniting to defend and restore our oceans for future generations. They've already successfully banned toxic fishing methods, saved endangered species such as sea turtles and sharks, and worked to cut the plastic strangling our seas.
"I couldn't simply steal inspiration from the sea without contributing something in return," John says. "Oceana's out there doing the actual work, ensuring we still have healthy oceans to photograph-and to love."
Through collaboration with Oceana, each print sold through John Scala Photography is a simple gesture of stewardship. It is an opportunity for all of us to pay back the deep blue that provides so much for us.
Art That Defends What Inspires It
Whether it's a serene coastal dawn or an epic seascape, much of Scala's work is inspired by nature and the ocean's rhythms. Today, every piece that's purchased does more than hang on a wall-it helps fund efforts in the real world to heal and protect the oceans that have inspired it.
All prints can be purchased via John Scala Photography's website, with an immediate mention that 100% of the profitss will go to Oceana. This campaign is continuous and represents Scala's enduring dedication to sustainability, stewardship, and art for a cause.
Join the Movement
Donors are invited to shop the series and select a work that moves them-knowing their purchase is about more than art. It's a ripple in a wave of change for our oceans.

Like most people, John first started taking photos after his first child was born. In the early days he was just taking snapshots of the cute moments of childhood. After a while, he started becoming fascinated with the difference in how the human eye sees versus how the camera sees. John started attending photo workshops, reading books and really trying to become a better photographer. In the end his hard work paid off. In 2019 he was awarded Image of the Year by the NCCC and made the PFLI ALL-STAR TEAM. He loves how a photograph freezes a moment in time. When he looks at his photos, he can remember where he was, what he felt when he was taking the photo. His hope is that you enjoy his gallery. It's only a fraction of the images he has. If you are looking for something specific, send him a message. He probably has what you're looking for.
