First LRIT (LongRangeIdendificationTrackingSystem) Admission in Germany
As the first and so far the only company in Germany, if not Europe, SatPro Int. Ltd.. & Co KG received from the BSH (Federal Office for Maritime and Hydrographic) the certificate of conformity for his offered LRIT system. This includes both the hardware as well as the official status as a CSP (Communication Service Provider).The LRIT introduction has begun in January 2008 and has to be completed by December 31st 2009 for almost all professional vessels. As a prominent shipping company PD (Peter Döhle) has already made the decision for the SatPro systems and started to equip its fleet with the SatPro LRIT system.
SatPro offers a complete system, which has no equal competition in the price/performance area and provides a variety of benefits for the shipping companies.

In its MARINE SAFETY ADVISORY NO. 6-09 Marshall Island reports massive issues with Inmarsat-C equipment concerning so-called EGC messages transmitting security related informations for vessels. In some cases a combination with LRIT messages seem to cause problems.
Now it is wanted to appeal to the ad-hoc LRITgroup at the IMO to find a solution.
