First LRIT (LongRangeIdendificationTrackingSystem) Admission in Germany
The LRIT introduction has begun in January 2008 and has to be completed by December 31st 2009 for almost all professional vessels. As a prominent shipping company PD (Peter Döhle) has already made the decision for the SatPro systems and started to equip its fleet with the SatPro LRIT system.
SatPro offers a complete system, which has no equal competition in the price/performance area and provides a variety of benefits for the shipping companies.

In its MARINE SAFETY ADVISORY NO. 6-09 Marshall Island reports massive issues with Inmarsat-C equipment concerning so-called EGC messages transmitting security related informations for vessels. In some cases a combination with LRIT messages seem to cause problems.
Now it is wanted to appeal to the ad-hoc LRITgroup at the IMO to find a solution.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines report a reliability rate of only 78 % for Inmarsat-C devices.

The units of the SatPro Int. Ltd & Co KG now received the first type approval ever issued by the Germanischer Lloyd (GL) for the LRIT system mandatory for commercial shipping from 2009 on. The german Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) already granted an acknowledgement of conformance some months ago.
