Well Being Digital (WBD101) Completes Multiple Advanced Sleep Monitoring Trials with Second-by-Second Vital Tracking and Sleep Improvement Suggestions using in-ear sensing technology
(Hong Kong, China) - As populations age and lifestyles shift toward richer diets and reduced physical activity, muscle tone (especially in the upper airway) weakens. This has led to a rise in sleep time breathing obstructions, often signaled by increased snoring, particularly among men who consume alcohol and smoke. These obstructions reduce blood oxygen levels and cause the heart to work harder in repeated cycles, which over time may contribute to chronic conditions such as stroke, cardiovascular disease and dementia.Maintaining steady and sufficient oxygen intake during sleep is essential to preserve high blood oxygen levels. While many smartwatches and rings claim to monitor sleep, they often fall short in offering actionable insights. Some devices, like rings, only measure SpO2 every 15 minutes, potentially missing critical low oxygen events in favor of battery conservation.
Well Being Digital (WBD101) believes earbuds are a more effective platform for sleep monitoring that can also provide sleep improvements suggestions. With advances in miniaturization, earbuds are now small and comfortable enough for overnight sleep use, pioneered by brands such as Anker, Bose, Ozlo, and Hera Leto. These earbuds can play music to induce sleep and enhance deep sleep through binaural beats, block ambient noise with passive noise cancellation, and with continuously monitoring of SpO2, heart rate, respiratory rate, and head position it can also suggest optimal sleeping postures. Additionally, built-in core body temperature sensing may support ovulation tracking for users trying to conceive, especially after a good night sleep.
WBD101 has partnered with three leading institutions to conduct research and public trials. In collaboration with a premier sports institute, the Hera Leto Zzzbuds (HLZ) from Actywell Digital were used to validate sensor accuracy and study athlete post-training recovery, providing coaches with data to optimize performance and tweak training routine and diets. In a public sector trial (PSTS) with CUHK, HLZ Zzzbuds with WBD101 sensing technology was tested against gold-standard Polysomnography (PSG). WBD101 also worked with Tsing Hua University to further enhance its sleep stage detection algorithms.
