What a rousing experience - it really makes learning fun! As every year, shortly before the company learning phase, the learning authority of the fictitious "municipality of Auensee" of the administrative clerks specializing in state and local administration (m/f/d) gathers to put the knowledge they have learned to the test live in a municipal council meeting. On 21.05.2025 it became clear once again: learning can be exciting and entertaining!

Around 30 guests, including dedicated trainers and HR consultants in rehab management, were taken on an exciting journey through the world of municipal administration by the 16 participants, who took on the role of local councillors. The day naturally began with an important topic: establishing a quorum. This was carefully checked and the agenda was unanimously approved.

The meeting then continued with something pleasant, namely the official congratulations on a marriage. The atmosphere was warm and festive.

Suddenly, however, unrest broke out! A member of the congregation, in this case an animal rights activist, entered the room and complained loudly about her supposed exclusion or the alleged difficulties with attending the meeting. She suspected that her commitment to the ornithological conservation work on the Auensee wagtail was behind this action. Of course, this unexpected disruption was part of the plan - a rehearsal scene intended to realistically reflect everyday life in the administration.

However, the budding administrative assistants were not fazed by this and mastered the situation with aplomb. With a professional demeanor and a clear head, they steered events back to the agenda.

It continued seamlessly with the planned topics. Everything was covered, from the discussion on the "Amendment of the market statutes" and the legal options in the event of improper final cleaning of the market stalls to the "Bad Auensee name management" and the associated municipal law issues, such as "Municipal charges in connection with the name change". The classification of a flea market under commercial law was also on the agenda, as was a request to speak and a resolution on the "Waiver of criminal charges by public transport companies for using public transport without a ticket". This was supplemented by the presentation of a new marketing concept for the municipality of Auensee and a legal discussion and resolution in connection with a legal dispute with a fictitious company.

The tasks in the learning authority and the fictitious municipal council meeting serve to consolidate and practically apply the specialist knowledge acquired - an essential preparation for the on-the-job learning phase that now lies ahead.

As part of the learning authority and in preparation for the meeting that took place, the VFA 24/2 class also designed an impressive official gazette and marketing flyers for the planned triathlon. The participants of the retraining planned, organized and prepared the meeting completely on their own.

We would like to thank all participants for their commitment, motivation and perseverance. We wish them all the best and every success for their future careers! We would also like to thank the dedicated trainers and all the supporters who are promoting the commercial professions at BFW Leipzig and giving many people a second chance on the job market.

What exactly is the "Gemeinde Auensee" learning authority?

The municipality of Auensee is more than just a training location - it is a fictitious learning environment in which prospective administrative assistants can immerse themselves in the practical side of local government.

Within 4 weeks, they pass through 4 different departments and take on real tasks that occur in a real municipality. From talking to citizens to drawing up notices. A central component is also the (fictitious) municipal council meeting described here. In this practical simulation, the participants take on the complete organization and implementation of a municipal council meeting, from preparing the invitation and drafting presentations to moderating the meeting itself.

The realistic simulation with trainers and other participants as citizens optimally prepares participants for the challenges of the final oral examination. Role plays are used to practise communication skills and citizen friendliness - skills that are indispensable in local government.

Berufsförderungswerk Leipzig has been a specialist in the field of participation in working life (vocational rehabilitation) for 35 years. It provides training and needs-oriented support for people who have had to leave their normal working life due to illness or accident. With individual testing, qualification and integration measures, new opportunities are offered for a return to working life. As a supra-regional service provider in the areas of advice, diagnostics and assessment, qualification, prevention and rehabilitation, the services are available at the main office in Leipzig and the branch office in Chemnitz. The vocational training centers (BTZ at the BFW) in Leipzig and Chemnitz complement the services offered specifically for people with mental disabilities. The wide range of services are not only an important contribution to getting people back to work, but also help to solve the shortage of skilled workers in the economy by providing orientation on the job market.
In addition, BFW Leipzig offers various training courses for companies. Here, the wishes of industry and business for a skilled workforce are taken into account. On request, the skilled workers can be trained on a job-related, in-service and individual basis.
