Bridging A Gap - Music in the Catholic Church
It all started at “The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception” in Atlanta, GA. The foundation was laid as they became alter and cantor boys-just wanting to serve God and learn as much as possible. As time passed Lionel and Lyndon began to feel the tug and passion of music rising inside. Not as a “like” or a hobby but as a “have to”, a “need to”. They tried to explore the secular side but very quickly were convinced that not only were they musicians, but that they were called to spread a message and revolutionize peoples’ lives. “Batiste” was birthed.
Batiste recognized that they would need to also cultivate their “secular” knowledge in order to compete in the music industry. Both brothers graduated from Morehouse; Lionel in Political Science and later a Masters in Business, while Lyndon obtained a degree in Religion with a second degree in Biblical Studies. Along the path to musical maturity, one of Batiste’ greatest concerns was whether or not they would be accepted by the gospel community as they had no traditional gospel influences in their music. But they pressed on – knowing that God would bring to fulfillment that which he spoke. The pair continued to grow intellectually and spiritually as they penned their own words and music to their life experiences. Batiste was on their way to being the “entire package”.
This talented and Christ inspired duo is now emerging as one of the top Christian artists of this time. In fact, not only has Batiste been nominated for prestigious awards in the industry, they have established an Indie record label, DaMil Records; a non-profit foundation entitled “ The Gift of Love Foundation”; and a Center entitled “The Gift Of Love Worship Center”. Lionel and Lyndon also host a weekly radio show aired on 1480am WYZE in Atlanta, GA.
Batiste’s debut album entitled “Love Is Your Greatest Gift” has already transformed the thoughts and minds of many. Batiste states, “Our testimony is that we alone did not write the songs on this album, but they were given to us directly from God. Batiste is a ministry, with music as its primary tool to communicate the message of scripture, which is Love, and the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe that this album can be considered the ‘soundtrack of the Bible’, and like the Bible, it is filled with deep spiritual truths that will take you down endless spiritual realities.”
Batiste has a deep yearning to assist in bridging the gap between youth and the Catholic Church. They have seen first hand how God uses their music as a tool to invigorate the hearts, minds and souls of youth. Their songs encourage listeners to live every day in the power of Christ’s love and grace but yet challenge each one to fulfill their calling. Songs such as “Fischer of Men”, “Mature Christian” and “In My Name”, relevantly portray the Word of God in today’s terms,

His powers and His intelligence are trillions of
God and Science: Author Jerry Pollock, PhD Proposes Science Does Not Does Exclud …
In a recent symposium in New York City, scientists who both believed and disbelieved in God discussed the problematic issue of science and religion. Opponents of a Supreme Being involved in creating our universe framed their arguments around their beliefs that centuries of scientifically proven biological experiments and theoretical physics and mathematics exclude God’s participation, while proponents took the opposite view where they felt that science cannot answer all the
