StarWind is an independent hyper-converged and storage vendor. Its StarWind Virtual SAN is a worthy competitor to similar solutions in the market. Still, StarWind decided to go further and in 2016, launched a software-defined backup solution – StarWind Virtual Tape Library (VTL). It is itself a VM with an SDS stack. StarWind VTL provides convenience in backing up data, especially when it goes about remote and branch offices, which lack IT staff.

The 2016 Virtualization Review Editor's Choice Awards by Keith Ward is based on the opinions and reviews by well-known experts in the fields of virtualization and cloud computing. The experts’ personal choices are products they find especially remarkable and attractive.
