However, before becoming a business magnate and forging a partnership with Walmart-one of the largest corporations in the world-his journey from his humble beginnings in Nha Trang was anything but easy.

"Life here was extremely tough. Right after I arrived, I had to start shelling shrimp to earn a living. Later, I worked at Swatman Market and in Vietnamese coffee shops. My mother had always trained me to study hard, so despite the hardship, I managed to finish high school and eventually attend university," Charlie Ton Quy recalled.

In 1995, he graduated with honors in chemical engineering. However, the U.S. economy was facing challenges at the time, and as a new graduate, Charlie found it nearly impossible to secure employment in his field.

In November of the same year, Charlie opened his first nail supply store, motivated by the simple fact that his wife, Mrs. Le Phng, owned a nail salon, and he himself possessed some knowledge of chemistry. Lacking capital, he managed to borrow $70,000-an amount that would later become the humble foundation of his remarkable business empire.

During a visit to a Walmart store, he was surprised to see a variety of services offered, yet not a single nail salon. Seizing the opportunity, Charlie proposed a collaboration with Walmart, only to be met with an outright rejection.

Nevertheless, he remained undeterred. For two years, he persistently lobbied Walmart for a partnership. His breakthrough finally came in 1997, when a store space unexpectedly became available. Charlie seized the opportunity and became the first Vietnamese entrepreneur to successfully negotiate a business deal with the retail giant.

Following the success of his first nail salon, Walmart granted him the opportunity to open additional locations. Today, his brand-Regal Nails-boasts over 800 salons across the United States. His long-term vision is to continue expanding Regal Nails globally.

The millionaire possesses a chain of nail salons and one of the largest nail supplies distribution networks in the United States. This vertical integration has been instrumental in propelling Charlie Ton Quy to billionaire status, enabling him to indulge in a life of luxury and access exclusive, high-end services.
