INKSTER, MI -- For more than a century, Scouting has been serving communities. Now, Scouts in Inkster are living up to principles found in the Scout Oath and Law that encourage them to help keep the community clean: Inspire Inkster's Pack 2024 and Pack 2025 joined forces with Bri Terry from Blooming Enterprise on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 to help launch the first series of park clean-ups in the city.

"Inspire Inkster's Cub Scouts and their families are proud to help our community with Blooming Enterprise. Specifically, our Scouts are supporting Blooming Enterprise because our families and volunteers are passionate about helping efforts to keep our parks clean and safe. We appreciate the opportunity to do so provided by Bri Terry and look forward to working with her further on this project in the near future," said Sarah Hughey, the Chartered Organization Representative of the Inspire Inkster packs.

In particular, this project is important to the community because of recent outcries about litter and trash in the city, along with calls to improve the cleanliness of Inkster's parks. The Inkster Scouts focused on the Colonial Park efforts, as many of their families and the students in surrounding neighborhoods and schools often spend time at this park. After seeing the need for more volunteers during this event, Brianna Britton, the Executive Director of the parent-teacher organization at Hicks Elementary and the Pack 2024 Assistant Cubmaster, is determined to respond to requests for help from Blooming Enterprise moving forward.

"We will be there for Bri Terry for any local community service project sponsored by her nonprofit! I am proud of our scouts and parents that joined on Wednesday, and we plan on continuing the clean-up efforts at Colonial Park during our May Pack meetings," said Brianna Britton.

"I helped so that I can protect the birds that live in the park and so that the playground will be clean for kids," said Aleister Brooks, a Lion Scout (Kindergarten Scout) from Pack 2024.
