The HolidayCheck-Award

The HolidayCheck-Award

Kreuzlingen, March, 13th, 2008: Hoteliers from all over the world gathered in Berlin to receive the sought-after HolidayCheck-Awards, given out within the frame of this year’s ITB (International Tourism Fair) in Berlin, Germany.

A blizzard and the city’s transport systems on strike at the same time, still they all came. Hoteliers and press gave everything to attend the glittering HolidayCheck-Award Ceremony in Berlin’s Universal Studios on March 5th.

The HolidayCheck-Award is assigned once a year and always to the 99 most popular hotels in the world. The evaluation was exclusively based on 214,881 hotel reviews submittedby travellers between November 2006 and October 2007. According to award organizers, hotels need a high recommendation rate along with a number of published traveller reviews, in order to qualify as one of the favorite destinations.

In spite of all the difficulties caused by the traffic, the party was packed. In high spirits 99 hoteliers received their HolidayCheck-Award, for managing one of the most popular hotels in the world. Honored hoteliers had their pictures taken by public and industrial press. They proudly displayed their prizes, which were given out by HolidayCheck’s CEO Hakan Öktem, the company’s founder Markus Schott, and the spokesman Dr. Axel Jockwer in person. This all happened country-wise, the ceremony was always accompanied by typical music, food, drinks, and flair. So, Greek hoteliers danced Syrtaki over a glass of Raki, while receiving their prize, a certificate and an ornamental plate.

Spain presented the most winner hotels with total of 31 awards. “There is a lot of work behind receiving a HolidayCheck-Award, based on so many positive traveller reviews,” says Dr. Jockwer. He concludes, “Every single one of these hotel-teams is very committed to their work and definitely earned this award.”
