Hope Healthcare receives United Way grant to expand care for uninsured patients across Hendricks County and Central Indiana.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 9, 2025
Avon, IN - Hope Healthcare Services is honored to announce it has received a grant from United Way of Central Indiana through its Basic Needs Fund, which supports organizations working to address foundational needs like food, shelter, healthcare, and transportation across Central Indiana.

This critical funding will allow Hope Healthcare Services to expand access to affordable medical, dental, and mental health services for uninsured individuals and families in Hendricks County and beyond-especially those facing barriers to care due to financial hardship.

"Nearly 40% of Central Indiana households are living in, or one emergency away from, poverty," said Shannon Jenkins, United Way's vice president of impact. "These grants to non-accredited organizations, guided by United Way's strategic aim of increasing and diversifying investment in under-resourced areas, will support operations, services and programming - and outcomes supporting more people and families throughout Central Indiana."

At Hope Healthcare Services, over 20,000 patient visits have been provided since opening in 2005-offering not only high-quality care, but a safe and respectful environment for those with nowhere else to turn.

"This grant is more than just financial support-it's an investment in the health and dignity of every person who walks through our doors," said Cliff Sweazey, Executive Director of Hope Healthcare Services. "We are committed to providing compassionate, community-centered care that helps people take charge of their health and their future."

The Basic Needs Fund grant will support key operations at Hope, allowing the clinic to serve more patients, extend service hours, and ensure the sustainability of vital programs-particularly for individuals in the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) demographic, who often earn too much to qualify for public assistance, yet not enough to afford consistent healthcare.
