Bühler Motor strengthens German production location

Nuremberg, 12. December 2016 – Good news for Monheim, in the administrative district of Donau-Ries: Bühler Motor is investing in the expansion of its German production site. The production areas are being increased by 2,000 m2 and the technical and administrative areas by 1,000 m2.
The new buildings are intended to be ready for use by the beginning of 2018, just in time for the start of series production of a number of pioneering products for the automotive industry.

“Monheim has already been our most important automotive production site, from where we supply our European customers. With the expansion project, we are developing this position, so that Monheim will continue to play a decisive role in the network of our ten international sites”, said Peter Muhr, President & CEO of the Bühler Motor Group.

Leading automobile manufacturers and suppliers worldwide rely on Bühler Motor as a system supplier. Customized mechatronic drives based on DC electric motors are the great strength of this traditional company. Bühler solutions are the driving force in improving energy efficiency, when coasting or for start/stop applications, and also for fully hybrid or electric driving, such as for cooling the batteries during charging. Bühler electrical pumps are also used in the after-treatment of exhaust gases of diesel engines.

“For our sophisticated products, we can’t sustain without Germany as a production location, nor do we want to. On the contrary, our workers have a vast range of experience and expertise, and that has convinced us and, ultimately, the Furtwänglers as the owner family make major investments in the expansion of the site”, underlines Peter Muhr.

The planning and approval procedures are more or less completed. The construction work will start as soon as possible in spring 2017.
