In the light of the wound - the maiden in the fir tree, where hope quietly steps through the darkness (© DREIFISCH)
The poem "Hoffnung trägt das gebrochene Herz" (2025) tells of a tender encounter between man and symbol in old timbres. A maiden appears in the forest at dusk - she carries a light within her, born of pain and love. The verses create a lyrical arc from a broken heart to hope that lives on in quiet sparks. It is a poetic symbol of that silent power that does not call, but remains - and shines.
The poem and the artist's thoughts
The poem "Hoffnung trägt das gebrochene Herz" (2025) and the artist's thoughts are reproduced below. These reflections open up a pictorial level of interpretation and invite reflection on what remains when everything else fades: the quiet glow of hope.
The poem
Hope carries the broken heart (2025)
In the quiet fir, at twilight,
I walked gently on mossy ground,
When in the pale evening light
A maiden appeared with a gentle mouth.
Her face was like moonlight,
Her hair like flax, bent by the wind,
She wore a glow on her breast,
Glowing softly through the shadows.
She bowed with silent grace,
As if her heart bore an old sorrow,
And yet she stood as if from dreams,
Of hope itself woven in her dress.
"O wanderer," she said, "see the fire,
That burns softly within me -
It was born of pain, of love,
And yet it's called hope burning."
"It carries the heart that once broke,
Through storm, through night, through heartache,
And yet nourishes itself from bright sparks -
Will still be alive forever."
There I stood mute, struck by the radiance,
And saw how light wells up from wounds.
The maiden vanished in a breath of silver,
Her glow remained - so warm, so mild.
And since the day when hearts weep,
I think of her silently and tenderly:
Hope bears the broken heart,
As light clings to the dark path.
Thoughts of the artist in pictorial form
On "Hope bears the broken heart" (2025)
A veil of silver dew lies over the silent grove where the light barely kisses the ground. There she stands - the young maiden - as if woven from dreams, her gaze lowered, her breath like a song of days gone by. In her chest, hidden beneath fine linen, there is a soft glow - not a fire that burns, but a light that heals.
The artist is not painting a portrait of flesh and blood - he is creating a symbol. The maiden is not just a human being, but an archetype of hope itself: delicate, broken, yet luminous. Her figure seems to be born out of the fog itself, as if she were an apparition from the intermediate world - between pain and recovery, between the past and a new dawn.
Around her, the world drips in gray, like a washed-out memory. But an inner light pours out of her heart, not blinding but warming. It spreads - quietly, almost shyly - but unstoppably. Every ray that grows from its center touches the world, as if it were transforming the splinters of grief into pearls of memory.
The composition resembles an altarpiece of the soul. No pomp, no excess - just the essentials: Light in the darkness. Hope in the silence. The hand on the chest, as if to tame the light or simply to feel that it is still there - that the broken heart still carries, still shines, still lives.
The lines of the old world fade in the background. The artist relies here on drift, on the approximate. What counts is not what was - but what remains. And what remains is hope - in human form, with a broken heart that nevertheless gives light.
Thus the work calls out - figuratively and poetically - to those who bear wounds:
"You are not less because you are broken.
You are more - because you still shine."
Final reflection
"Hope Carries the Broken Heart" (2025) is a poetic miniature about vulnerability, light and quietly moving on. The reading unfolds like an inner mirror - for all those who know that real strength lies not in volume, but in perseverance. The work reminds us that hope does not shout triumphantly, but remains a whisper - and that broken hearts often carry the deepest lights.

Pedagogical framework: Becoming visible - instead of being represented
Before the actual design experiments begin, it makes sense to take a step back. Not to plan something. But to clarify what sustains us. Because what we are practising here has more to do with more than technique. It has to do with perception. With attention. And with the confidence that design can be a path - not a destination.
Anyone who embarks on this process begins with an attitude, not…

7-Thoughts: Becoming visible - instead of being represented
These seven thoughts have been with me for many years. They are not a theory, a method or a concept - rather, they are an inner trace. They have become engrained in my work, in my attitude, in my perception and design. What is collected here is not just a text about design, but the expression of a way of thinking that has been formed through doing.
The impulses come from…

Catharine Remberts: Teaching approaches and their lasting impact
I am a photographer. I am a filmmaker. I design logos, set typography. And in all these roles, I encounter a common principle day after day: design is reduction. Meaning arises from form. Attitude begins with perception.
I didn't learn this attitude theoretically - I've developed it over the years: on set, when a scene becomes a space through light and shadow. In the studio, when an outline becomes a symbol.…

Eve Arnold - The portrait photographer in portrait
Sometimes it is not the loud life stories that touch us the most. It's the ones that tell their stories quietly and clearly - without pathos, but with attitude. Stories that are not out to make an impact, but to make an impact. Like those of Eve Arnold.
This is not a complete biography. It does not aim to tell everything - but to make the essentials tangible. It is an…

Housing Industry Full Of Hope
Monthly volume has been declining for over a year now; it is already touching a nearly 31-month low, thanks to hardening interest rates and unaffordable property prices. Correction is expected in the industry, but there is another perspective to it. No increase in property prices is also a correction. The property rates have been rising but it is not corresponding to the increasing inflation rate, which is a good sign.…
Hope for the indigenous Amazon tribes
The indigenous people left on our planet hold an ancestral link to the history of what was before the development of cities like Rio and Sao Paulo. Their customs have stayed with them throughout the years and today they continue to live peacefully within the Amazon.
