Beer is the third most popular drink after tea and water and is consumed widely. It is categorized into four segments dark, lager, non-alcoholic and stout beer. Low fat and cholesterol content in beer are also expected to boost its demand in the Latin America and Middle-East. Moreover, changing consumer lifestyle is also escalating the demand for beer, especially among the youth. Also rapid urbanization is boosting the demand of beer in Latin America and Middle-East. Beer is the second largest product consumed after water globally. Consumption of beer at a moderate rate is helpful for health conscious people. However, bitter taste of beer is one of the restraining factors for the growth of beer market.
The beer market in this report has been segmented geographically into two regions Latin America and Middle-East. Lager has the largest product segment in Latin America with market share of 99.43% in 2014 and 79.01% in Middle-East. However, lager segment is expected to be the growing market in Latin America and Middle-East growing at a CAGR of 3.1% and 1.3% from 2015 to 2021. Increasing disposable income owing to rapid urbanization is one of the major factors fueling the demand for lager. Another most important factor escalating the demand of lager is that they are less bitter compared to dark and stout beer.

In Latin America, Brazil has the largest market for beer valued at 60.2% in 2014. Absence of stringent rules and regulations in this region and suitable climatic condition are the major factor fuelling the demand in the beer market. Further, Middle-East is the growing market for beer especially non-alcoholic beers. In Middle-East, UAE and Egypt held highest market share of 40.62% in 2014 and is expected to be the growing market for non-alcoholic beer. The consumers of Middle-East consume more of non-alcoholic beer as that of alcoholic beer. The main reason for the consumption of non-alcoholic beer is due to the presence of strict government rules and regulation that restricts consumption of alcoholic beer or drinks. These rules and regulations strictly prohibit consumption of alcoholic beer in some parts of Middle-East like Saudi Arabia among others. However, in some parts of Middle-East alcoholic beer is consumed like in UAE, Egypt among others. Moreover, in Latin America there are no such strict rules and regulations so, the demand of alcoholic beer is higher than the non-alcoholic beer. Also the climatic condition and increasing health awareness among the consumers are increasing the demand for the consumption of beer.
