Holiday Challenge Encourages better cybersecurity for Charities

WinPatrol, the maker of WinPatrol WAR the only anti-ransom solution that also protects against malware and zero day attacks, today announced their WinPatrol Holiday Challenge. During this challenge, which lasts through the end of December 2016, WinPatrol will match license for license all donations of our software to charitable, religious and educational institutions.

“We continuously are reading reports where Ransomware is targeting organizations like charities, religious organizations and educational facilities because their data is critical to them,” said Bret Lowry, CEO of WinPatrol. “Yet they quite often lack the resources to purchase security software needed to protect their organizations properly.”

Such was the case for WildCare, an organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area that treats sick or injured animals (nearly 4,000 a year), and teaches children and adults to understand and appreciate wildlife. They were using a free trial of WinPatrol Enterprise but lacked the funds available to purchase. Upon discussing the situation with them and learning of the things they do, we donated the licenses they needed.

WildCare’s focus is on helping sick and injured wild animals, not necessarily on online security, which makes the organization’s IT manager very nervous. “Most of our organization’s staff members use their computers strictly for email and internet access,” says IT Manager Alison Hermance. “Before WinPatrol, it would have been incredibly easy for a user to click the wrong link and give a hacker easy access to ransom the organization’s entire network. This would have been a disaster!”

“With the generous donation of WinPatrol licenses for all of our users, WildCare’s databases of wildlife patients, medical treatments and, of course, our donor database are safe from ransom attacks. We’re incredibly grateful!”

After that experience we did some research and realized just how many organizations are in need. We knew we could not solve this problem on our own. So we created this challenge in hopes that by shining a light on this issue we can provide protection to at least some of the organizations in need. Working together we can help protect those who do so much for the community and ask for so little in return.

To donate for the Holiday Challenge, visit https://www.winpatrol.com/give.
• Purchase licenses to WinPatrol WAR and/or WinPatrol Enterprise for a charitable, religious or educational institution. We will match the number of licenses you purchase with licenses we donate. In other words, if your local wild life organization needs 30 licenses, all you have to do is purchase 15 and we’ll donate the other 15.
• Licenses are good through the end of December 2017.
• The recipient organization can install either WinPatrol WAR or WinPatrol Enterprise or both in any combination up to the number of total licenses donated.
• If the recipient would like to use the donated licenses on WinPatrol Firewall or WinPatrol PLUS, we will provide them with licenses for those products instead.
• Simply provide the recipient’s email address and we will immediately notify them of your donation.
• Donations may be done anonymously.
• WinPatrol will list the organizations to which licenses are donated on our site unless otherwise specified.
• WinPatrol will list the donor on our site as well, unless you’ve donated anonymously.
• Licenses must be utilized by the organization to which they are donated. Licenses may not be reassigned or resold in any way without the express written permission of WinPatrol.

WinPatrol WAR is available for $19.95. WinPatrol Enterprise is available for$19.95 per agent seat.

About WinPatrol
With more than two million happy customers worldwide, WinPatrol is disrupting the market with a first of its kind artificial intelligence (AI) engine to provide real time monitoring of a computer system as programs execute. WinPatrol’s Windows Anti-Ransomware solution (WinPatrol WAR) works similarly to an immunization, providing a dose of good malware that detects the behaviors of nefarious malware and ransomware. If a program takes malicious action (typical of malware), it is blocked. This action prevents ransomware from encrypting the computer system, making it the only solution that defends against zero day attacks. The WinPatrol Firewall, the easiest personal firewall in the world, leverages innovative whitelisting technology to block unknown programs from talking to the Internet. The WinPatrol PLUS host intrusion prevention system protects and manages start-up programs, tasks, file type associations, and more that Windows fails to make easily manageable. Individual and multi-product bundles are available for both consumer and business customers. www.winpatrol.com
