Press release from: Project Pass It On

What dark secrets is San Juan County hiding, and why is the sheriff's office hunting down a man they once trapped?

New Mexico is one of the most dangerous states in the country. In San Juan County, one of the biggest dangers, according to residents, is the unchecked corruption in the criminal justice system.

Last summer, at San Juan County Adult Detention Center, a privately owned jail, an inmates water was turned off for three days in his cell, and Bryan Harris nearly died. Searchlight New Mexico did an article on the deplorable conditions of the detention center that featured Bryan.

More recently, inmates have been complaining about the inedible food being served.
Brandon Roe, advocating for the inmate population, was able to get pictures of the moldy and spoiled food being served to a friend. This friend then got in contact with a group of people who promote transparency and aim to end corruption. The jail administrator was contacted, who gave his promise to resolve any issues.

The next day, Brandon, who was looking at a sentence of 60+ years was released from the jail. All charges dropped, cases dismissed without prejudice, and probation terminated. He has no warrants, and has no court cases looming. Why then, is the San Juan County sheriff's office trying to find his whereabouts?

Why did they swarm Brandon's family members and get their Google location history from their phones after asking where he was? He has no warrants. He is free and clear. Could there be a reason they are trying to cover something up?

21 years ago, Brandon Roe was a 16 year old highschool student with a bright future ahead of him. He was a good student, and excelled in football, wrestling, and boxing. Things changed when an undercover Region 2 Narcotics Agent befriended him.

This agent introduced Brandon to meth. He took him under his wing so to speak. This agent knew all of the dealers in town. He blended in and got people to trust him. Brandon started to wonder about the agents suspicious behaviors. For example, he'd always write down license plate numbers, names, dates, and transaction history in a book. Brandon realized that this older man was not who he pretended to be after witnessing him speak to other agents in suits. He now understood that this man was working for Region 2, and that every name written in that book could be in trouble. Brandon confiscated the book and gave it to a trusted friend to warn him and others about the rat posing as a friend. Soon after, the Region 2 officer disappeared. Retaliation against Brandon soon followed.

A grown man hired by San Juan County got a 16 year old addicted to drugs. Then San Juan County poly victimized Brandon by sending him to an accumulated total of 18 years in prison.

Now that he no longer has a case against him, shouldn't Brandon be secure in his knowledge of his freedom? We are seriously worried for his life. SJC residents should not live in fear of our corrupt judicial system and murderous sheriff's deputies.

If anything happens to Brandon Roe, the sheriff's office is responsible.

Please keep updated on his safety.
