About the author
Although born in England, Michael grew up in Beverly Hills and began his career in Hollywood in the editing department, working for such industry icons as John Ford, George Cukor, and Fred Zinneman. Later, he was promoted to producer of the teen comedy Palm Springs Weekend, staring Troy Donahue, Robert Conrad, Stefanie Powers, and Connie Stevens. He has been twice nominated for an Emmy Award and has served two four-year terms as Governor on the Board of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Hoey has written episodes for The Rat Patrol, Get Christie Love, McCloud, Bridges to Cross, The Fitzpatricks, and The Lazarus Syndrome, which he also produced. He has directed numerous episodes of Dallas, Falcon Crest, Downtown, Blacke's Magic, and Murder, She Wrote, and for five seasons was a writer/director on the popular series Fame. For the past nine years he has served as Executive Producer of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Creative Arts Emmy Awards on E! Entertainment Network. He lives with his wife in San Clemente, California.
