UNASOMALIA Partners with Accord University to Promote SDGs and UN Principles
The United Nations Association of Somalia (UNASOMALIA) is proud to announce a new partnership with Accord University to collaborate on advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting the core principles and values of the United Nations in Somalia. This partnership marks a significant step toward building a stronger foundation for sustainable development, peace, and prosperity in Somalia.The collaboration between UNASOMALIA and Accord University will focus on enhancing awareness and understanding of the SDGs among students, professionals, and local communities across Somalia. The joint initiative aims to foster education, advocacy, and actions that align with the global agenda to achieve the SDGs by 2030. As part of this initiative, the two organizations will organize seminars, workshops, and community engagement activities to spread knowledge about the SDGs, as well as highlight the importance of UN principles such as human rights, peace, security, and international cooperation.
UNASOMALIA has long been at the forefront of advocating for the principles of the United Nations in Somalia, with a strong commitment to ensuring that the country's development aligns with global standards and the broader UN framework. Through this new partnership with Accord University, UNASOMALIA hopes to empower the next generation of Somali leaders, change-makers, and professionals to actively contribute to Somalia's sustainable development and integration into the global community.
"Education is the cornerstone of achieving the SDGs and building a sustainable future for Somalia," said Ms Nagan Ally, Vice President of the United Nations Association of Somalia. "Through our partnership with Accord University, we aim to equip Somali youth and professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to promote peace, equality, and sustainable development across the country."
Prof. Abdulkadir B. Mohamed Vice-Chancellor of Accord University, emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and civil society organizations in achieving the SDGs. "As an institution committed to producing leaders who are globally aware and locally engaged, we are excited to work alongside UNASOMALIA to ensure that the principles of the United Nations are deeply embedded in the education and professional development of our students," he said. "This partnership will help foster a generation of Somalis who are equipped to contribute to the realization of a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable Somalia."
The partnership will also focus on building a stronger understanding of the United Nations' role in conflict resolution, humanitarian aid, and international diplomacy. Together, UNASOMALIA and Accord University will serve as a model for other institutions in Somalia, showcasing the positive impact of collaboration on national development.
Through this collaboration, the United Nations Association of Somalia and Accord University are reaffirming their commitment to promoting the ideals of the United Nations, including the promotion of peace, human dignity, and global cooperation. They are committed to working together to ensure Somalia remains an active participant in the global movement for sustainable development and peace.
