Specialist consultancy Kingsley Hamilton People launches new IT desk

Kingsley Hamilton People, a specialist consultancy based in London’s Canary Wharf, is delighted to announce the launch of a new recruitment desk serving clients and candidates in the IT sector. The addition follows the success of the company’s first Talent Academy, a three week training programme that resulted in the appointment of six new consultants.

The decision to introduce an IT desk is a welcome move in the wake of recent figures, which continue to paint a booming industry owing to the unrelenting development of technology, and its application by businesses looking to maintain a competitive edge.

The latest APSCo IT Trends Report is one of many to reveal the extent of the IT sector’s stronghold in the UK employment market. It found that demand for roles in the industry exceeded 16% in August 2016; making up a greater proportion of professional vacancies on offer.

While the IT sector is wide-ranging, the report puts a spotlight on standout areas. For instance, managerial roles grew by 19% year on year, suggesting that businesses are keen to expand the structure of their IT departments.

More notably, however, IT security appears to be the driving factor in the sector; with demand for roles increasing by 26% year on year to August. This isn’t a surprise given that a 2016 PwC report showed that more than half of UK organisations expect to be the victim of cyber crime in the next two years. Plus, a Lloyds survey reported that 90% of businesses have already suffered from a significant attack, while insurance brokerage firm Aon reported that a mere 7% of SMEs have cyber protection.
