A new wave of millennials joins recruitment consultancy Kingsley Hamilton People
Kingsley Hamilton People, a fast-growing recruitment specialist based in London’s Canary Wharf, addresses the millennial job market with the appointment of six new trainees via the launch of its Talent Academy. The training initiative is a welcome decision in light of several recent figures. For instance, the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) reports that the number of job vacancies fell by 8% this year. Plus, the Totaljobs Employment Index reveals that 78% of 16-24 year olds struggle with job hunting.
A total of 16 candidates, ranging from 18 to 24 years old, were shortlisted from over 100 applications. This mix of talent came together as Kingsley Hamilton People held the first round of its assessment stage at its head office. Attended by four members of senior staff, including the CEO and Managing Director, the assessment day saw graduates (81%) and school leavers (19%) put through a series of group and individual tasks.
The aim was to discover and nurture the talent of tomorrow. And with the demographic in mind, KHP created a fun yet productive opportunity for candidates to apply and develop their transferable skills.
From handling traditional client and candidate scenarios, to tackling interactive tasks with the help of lateral thinking, they connected with, bounced ideas off, and learnt from one another. Naturally, they successfully honed their communication and presentation skills to structure well-thought out answers, and delivered them with both ease and confidence.
After the first assessment day, the recruitment team invited 11 candidates to present their thoughts and knowledge on recruitment, and take part in a face-to-face interview. From this roundup of high calibre talent, Kingsley Hamilton People has since recruited six new Trainee Recruitment Consultants. Each of them will benefit from mentoring, commercial awareness, and on-the-job training from the Talent Academy. And with Canary Wharf being home to a wealth of legal, business, and financial institutions, including the likes of KPMG, Clifford Chance, and Standard & Poor’s, the new trainees are well-placed for a successful recruitment career ahead of them.
Many of the new recruits offer sector-appropriate backgrounds, including 33% hailing from law and 16.67% from accountancy. Sanna Jawad, Managing Director, explains: “I’m delighted to announce that we are hiring six people to join us as Trainee Recruitment Consultants.
We always strive to employ the best talent in order to make a difference to them, as well as our clients and candidates. And with recent studies showing that millennials are keen to gain experience of an organisation’s environment, before joining, the aim of Talent Academy is for trainees to graduate from the programme equipped with all the right skills and knowledge needed to kickstart a worthwhile career with us.”
The Talent Academy started on Monday 26th September 2016. Over the course of three weeks, the six trainees will be provided with commercial recruitment knowledge, as well as supported with ongoing mentoring and on-the-job training.
