Under the Label of a "Cult" ALLATRA Continues Its Journey

ALLATRA continues its mission with a clear goal: to fight against disinformation and protect our right to the truth

I am a member of the International Public Movement ALLATRA. As a member of the International Public Movement ALLATRA, I can state with absolute confidence that like all participants in the movement, my motivation for being here is not personal gain or fame. The ALLATRA movement brings together people who believe in the power of justice, the importance of protecting our planet, and the necessity of upholding human rights. We work together as volunteers because we understand that the climate and social challenges that humanity faces demand our united efforts and open dialogue. However, now we are forced to fight back against anti-cult organisations that have called us a "cult" and started a massive media campaign against us. They are trying to discredit us, misrepresent our goals, and violate our rights, but they will fail.

Let me be clear - who is attacking us, and why?

Since 2015, ALLATRA has been the target of a relentless campaign of attacks by the Russian Association of Centres for the Study of Religions and Sects (RACIRS), with the backing of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). They are falsely portraying us as a "cult" or "sect", propagating false ideas about our projects and creating a negative image among the public. These actions are not just groundless; they are deliberately undermining trust in our movement and in the projects we are building with faith in the power of humanity.

RACIRS, which presents itself as a defender against destructive cults, uses its influence to spread distorted information about us to its affiliated media. Their publications follow a single template, often using negative terms like "apocalyptic cult," "destructive sect," and "pro-Putin cult," among others. These defamatory articles are misleading and deliberately manipulate context to create a false impression of ALLATRA.

WHAT IS ALLATRA

The ALLATRA International Movement is a platform for scientists, activists, and caring people who are passionate about finding real solutions to global problems. This is especially important in light of the current climate crisis. We engage in educational activities and combine efforts to research climate change, promote democratic values and defend human rights. The ALLATRA movement is far from religious propaganda or any political agenda. We are independent of commercial and governmental influences and all our activities are carried out on a voluntary basis.

ALLATRA is a media platform where anyone can contribute to the creation of content, whether it's documentaries, interviews with scientists, or video programmes. We create a space where people with different perspectives can share their thoughts and experiences. Unlike many other platforms, ALLATRA doesn't limit the topics for discussion. This means that you can openly talk about important issues like climate change, human rights, and the need for international dialogue.

Why do they use the word "cult"?

RACIRS and the media that support them use terms like "cult" or "apocalyptic sect" to create a negative perception of ALLATRA. They claim that we "scare people with the end of the world", when in fact our work is based on scientific data and research. We believe that it is crucial to inform people about the real threats in our world, one of which is climate change. Our position is based on facts and years of scientific research. However, presenting this information in this way can be challenging for those who want to control the flow of information.

We have always emphasised that it is only through the combined efforts of scientists and society that we can find a solution for the future. We do not see ourselves as chosen or asking for special treatment. We simply believe in joining forces to preserve life on our planet, and that requires honest discussions about all possible threats.

Imagine a small fire breaks out in a forest and one of the campers notices the flames and warns everyone of the impending danger, calling for immediate evacuation. But some people doubt this, saying that the fire is far away and unlikely to reach them, and label those who warn as a dangerous cult that must be stopped. As a result, the fire spreads over a large area and causes irreversible damage.

At ALLATRA, we are also trying to raise awareness about climate change and the need for urgent action. However, instead of being heard, we are often accused of being a cult.

We want everyone to understand and appreciate the magnitude of the problem for themselves. We believe that understanding is the first step towards solving it.

Personal attacks and the campaign against Igor Mikhailovich Danilov

To intensify the campaign against us, those behind these attacks have focused on an active member of the ALLATRA movement, Igor Mikhailovich Danilov. Igor Mikhailovich is a respected scientist and public figure who has never claimed to be the "leader" of the movement. Like all of us, he is a volunteer who has devoted a lot of effort to growing our movement and informing society about the most important issues.

The media is deliberately distorting his words, taking them out of context to create an image of a 'cult leader'. This not only violates his rights but also endangers his personal life. Some articles even reveal his personal information, address and family details. This is done to intimidate and discredit him, undermining his reputation through deliberate misinformation, even published on major media platforms.

Why our work is important

We recognize that addressing climate and social challenges necessitates not only a scientific approach but also widespread public support and concerted action. We are firmly committed to the principles outlined in international documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Our movement seeks to empower individuals to engage in open discussions and seek solutions for the future of all humanity. To this end, we uphold our right to freedom of expression.

Our activities focus on raising awareness of the real causes of climate change, defending human rights and supporting democratic principles.

Supporting UN values and an open society

ALLATRA supports the values enshrined in the United Nations Charter. We recognise the importance of protecting the planet, respecting the rights of every individual and the need to unite people around common values. At a time when the threat of climate change is becoming a reality, uniting people is essential for the survival of humanity.

RACIRS and the media platforms they use to promote their ideas try to discredit us for our activities and question the importance of our work. However, the truth is that we all work with the best intentions, for a future where respect and honesty are the most important values.

A public appeal

We, the members of ALLATRA, urge everyone to be critical of information and to engage in open discussion. We are convinced that the strength of our movement lies in truth and the desire to make the world a better place. We have nothing to hide and we are ready to continue our work despite all obstacles. Our aim is not to defeat our critics, but to ensure that people know the truth and can decide for themselves who to trust and what to support.

We believe that only together can we overcome any difficulties and find a way to a better future.
