LOS ANGELES, CA, September 2024 - Pulp Studio, the leading designer and manufacturer of technically superior decorative glass, has recently completed another project in collaboration with Public Art for Public Schools (PAPS), which functions as a unit within the New York City School Construction Authority. Vibrant and lively, this colorful mural, "REMEMBER WHEN TOMORROW CAME," was created by artist duo "Ghost of a Dream" to welcome guests into the entry corridor of the new Pacific Park Campus in Brooklyn, N.Y.

As the nation's only public art program dedicated exclusively to schools, PAPS manages the creation of custom art projects for New York public schools. Its goal is to enhance students' learning environments by supplying schools with artworks that will elevate the school atmosphere, serve as educational resources for teachers and spark imagination and inspiration in students.

"Pulp Studio is proud to be involved in these meaningful and uplifting projects," states Kirk Johnson, Chief Executive Officer. "We recognize the vital importance of providing students with a setting for success and we resonate with PAPS' mission to enhance students' learning environments. We're excited to apply our glass fabricating expertise to bring these dynamic artistic creations to life."

Students, teachers and guests view this artwork in motion as they pass through the corridor, and it's also large enough to be seen from the street through a large window. Spanning more than 18 feet across the hallway wall, the artwork features a digital collage of multiple overlapping bands of text in a bold, contrasting color palette. The text states "REMEMBER WHEN TOMORROW CAME" in 170 different languages spoken in New York City. This invigorating phrase promises hope for students in the pivotal, transformative time of middle school. The artists also chose this phrase to showcase New York's linguistic diversity, displaying a global perspective to students and inspiring them to chase the infinite possibilities in the world.

To bring this energetic mural to life, Pulp Studio used tempered laminated glass 1/4" 492LI low iron with coating on #1 surface over 1/4" low iron and an opaque graphic interlayer. To create the vibrant colors of this mural, Pulp Studio used PGI™️, which is a photographic process that creates the substrate used in a laminated glass product. PGI™️ is best used when the graphic design demands photographic quality. Additionally, this project utilizes Pulp Studio's Precision Edge®, which complements designs by providing a high-quality, zero-tolerance finish, ensuring that any of the exposed edges meet the same high standards as the artwork itself.

Founded in 1996, Pulp Studio passionately advocates for the creative use of glass as a building element. From the beginning, the brand's defining mission is to fill the void in the market for innovative uses of glass in interior and façade projects. Pulp Studio combines technical prowess with design sensibility; creating products that reside at the intersection of fashion and function.

Pulp Studio employs craftspeople, artists, scientists, and inventors who view working with glass as an artistic endeavor - their medium being glass. The company's capabilities include bending, hand-color coating, laser etching, glass carving, screen print imaging, drilling, notching, and a patented system for uniformly illuminating panels using high-intensity LEDs. Every project is another opportunity for Pulp Studio to further enrich the idea of "custom" by delivering products that are superior in design and functionality. One of the company's insulated glass products, Ombra™ achieves a solar heat gain coefficient superior to that of other insulated glass units, dramatically reducing climate control requirements and providing significant energy savings over the life of a building.

Working in collaboration with architects and design studios, Pulp Studio's products have been used in numerous high-profile projects including: Moynihan Station, New York, N.Y., the Space Needle in Seattle, W.A., David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York, N.Y., the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, C.A., Wilshire Grand in downtown Los Angeles, C.A. and the Gores Group Headquarters in Beverly Hills, C.A. www.pulpstudio.com
