Renate Hausdorf honored for her commitment to the Paul-Klinger-Sozialwerk

Renate Hausdorf is the chairwoman of the Paul-Klinger-Künstlersozialwerk e.V. Together with 15 other role models from all over Bavaria, she received the Bavarian Certificate of Volunteering on September 13. During the award ceremony, the Bavarian Minister of State Ulrike Scharf praised her great commitment: "The fact that the social work is also heard in socio-political issues is primarily due to your personal commitment. You are a strong voice for artists. You know the work in committees. And position the association politically. In doing so, you show us how important art and culture are for our coexistence. When culture gets under pressure, the foundations of our state begin to shake."

With the Bavarian Certificate of Volunteering, the Ministry recognizes the tireless efforts of volunteers for our society.

Renate Hausdorf, who was born in Berlin, has lived in Munich for almost 50 years - and the Paul Klinger Artists' Social Welfare Organization has been around for just as long: it celebrated its golden anniversary this year. The Paul-Klinger-Künstlersozialwerk is active throughout Germany and offers its approximately 1,100 members a wide range of information and career-specific advice for all professional situations. In this non-profit association, artists network with each other, exchange ideas and meet experts from other fields who provide them with relevant support. There are members from the field of art and culture, but sponsoring membership is also possible for people from outside the profession who can thus support artists. Renate Hausdorf became a member in 1990, has been on the board since 2013 and serves as president since 2018.

Books in all their diversity are close to her heart. She also coordinates and organizes the Paul-Klinger-Künstlersozialwerk's annual event "Lectures against Forgetting" where texts once burned by the Nazis are performed on Odeonsplatz in front of the Theatinerkirche.

Who was Paul Klinger?
Paul Klinger (1907-2971) was a German actor, radio play and dubbing actor. In addition to his film work, Klinger was committed to the social needs of artists, such as the protection of actors. His commitment has been continued by the Paul-Klinger-Künstlersozialwerk e.V. since 1974.
