*Breaking Free: Sex, Tech, & Recovery - A Free Community Event on Protecting Kids from Online Addiction**** Alive Church is excited to announce a pivotal community event titled "Breaking Free: Sex, Tech, & Recovery," designed to address the pressing issue of online addiction and its impact on our youth. The event will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Alive Church, 8844 Austin Ave, Oak Lawn, IL. This event is free and open to the public.
In the last two decades, rapid technological advancements have reshaped societal views on beauty, relationships, and sexuality. The average age of first exposure to inappropriate images has alarmingly dropped to just 12 years old, fueled by the proliferation of social media and easy access to explicit content. This shift has led to the increased sexualization and objectification of individuals, resulting in a surge in addiction to explicit images and a corresponding rise in anxiety, depression, and loneliness among young people.
"Breaking Free: Sex, Tech, & Recovery" aims to empower parents, teens, and young adults with crucial knowledge and practical tools to navigate this complex digital landscape. The event will feature an expert panel discussing:
- **Current Trends and Impact:** An analysis of how modern technology influences youth mental health and contributes to rising addiction rates.
- **Practical Advice:** Strategies and resources for parents to protect their children from online dangers and manage digital consumption effectively.
- **Pathways to Recovery:** Insights into overcoming explicit image addiction and fostering emotional and psychological recovery.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the panel during a Q&A session, addressing their personal concerns and gaining further clarity on the topics discussed.
