Paulding County High Schools Closing the Workforce Skills Gap with YouScience Thanks to R.K. Redding Construction Donation

DALLAS, Ga. (Sept. 15, 2016) – High school sophomores and juniors in the Paulding County School District will have an opportunity to take the YouScience student profile thanks to a generous donation from R. K. Redding Construction (RKR). The YouScience profile uses “brain games” to capture real measures of aptitudes, which are the natural abilities most important to career choice. Through a scientific algorithm, students are given a personalized match with their best-careers, allowing students to expand their vision of opportunity.

“Because we have heard so many wonderful stories about students excited to find their path, we decided to expand our YouScience sponsorship,” said Randall Redding, CEO of R.K. Redding Construction. “At the same time, we are helping build a larger, more diverse workforce for our industry and others that face critical labor shortages.”

The Metro Atlanta Chamber recently released an Accenture study that discovered a gap between education and workforce skills. YouScience addresses many of the recommendations made in this report by providing personal insight and market information that allows students to connect education with career options. By using the student’s own portfolio of talents as a basis for career recommendations, he or she gains the confidence needed to succeed in a potential career.

Students will use the personal insight, career recommendations and market information with their school counselor and parents to develop a post-secondary skills development and education plan that ensures their most direct path into a successful high-growth industry career.

Students and parents can now make more informed educational decisions that consider the needs of the marketplace, in a highly personalized way.”

The YouScience profile allows students to discover the intersection of their aptitudes, interests and career opportunities and confidently set a direction for education and career success.

The five Paulding County School District high schools include: East Paulding High School, Hiram High School, Paulding County High School, South Paulding High School and North Paulding High School. RKR is involved in several workforce development initiatives including supporting a number of CTAE programs throughout West Georgia.
