Has Excessive Force Become the Norm While Policing Communities: the Travis Beckel Story
The burdens of life for some can be just another day for othersBy: Liam Westra of British News Sole Corp, A BNSC News Group company
"Power doesn't corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power." - John Steinbeck
As the summer ends many people around the globe have experienced extreme incidents from the record breaking temperature. In some situations the asphalt, pavement, and concrete can increase in temperature up to 180 degrees while causing the possibility of third-degree burns on the epidermis or upper layer of the skin, says Dr. Kevin Foster, director of burn services at the Arizona Burn Center at Valleywise Health. As the American Family day holiday began an event happened to a family that could change their lives in the coming years. As the old saying goes," Life can change in an instant." This family is the Beckels of Mesa, Arizona. On the day of May 16, 2024, an Air Force veteran decided to enjoy a ride on his street legal motorcycle according to Mrs Beckel; it so happens an accident occurred, and viewers called first responders. As he returned to his home numerous law enforcement officers attempted to arrest him, and a violent situation ensued. The victim known as Travis Beckel, according to his doctor diagnosed him with an injury called Right Fibular Fracture with Hypertrophic Callus Formation, and Unstable Syndesmosis. The required advice was to undergo surgery at the Veterans Hospital. Although Mr. Beckel endured such pain from the punches, kicks, and a severe injury he was charged with obstruction of justice 13-2409, and other charges may be pending. After the internal investigation of local law enforcement departments, and reform with new protocols, and procedures was implemented, have these officers that are involved in this incident considered rogues? According to U.S. Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, The problems at their core reflect the lack of effective supervision, training, and accountability. The recent Federal Bureau of investigation quarterly crime report revealed that there were 31.7% in deaths, 55.3% in serious bodily injuries, and 13.6% in discharges for the use of excessive force. In the words of many political law makers these unnecessary actions of excessive force have to stop, because the officers involved in this incident have not been investigated or held accountable according to the victim's family.
