Called a "bewitching yarn" by Dread Central [https://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/439837/mother-superior-bewitches-bhff-2022-review/] with a "captivating aesthetic (Hollywood Reporter [https://x.com/THR/status/1584928717612236801]), Mother Superior tells the haunting tale of Sigrun (Isabella Handler), a young nurse in search of self-discovery who gets entangled in the occult cabal of her aristocratic patient. After its world premiere at the Slash Film Festival in 2022, Mother Superior went on to garner laurels at horror festivals worldwide.
The story opens in 1975, at the Rosenkreuz Manor in Austria. Sigrun starts a new position with the ailing Baroness Heidenreich (Inge Maux) who resides with her devoted groundskeeper, Otto (Jochen Nickel). Their customs are unsettling, but Sigrun is possessed by the need to know her true identity. All she knows is that the Baroness directed the "Aryan" nursery where, in 1944, Sigrun was born without record. What she discovers awakens something within her that Sigrun herself never expected.
