Waukegan Freemasons Celebrate 175 Years
Waukegan, IL, September 28th, 2024 - The brothers of Waukegan Lodge No. 78, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, are thrilled to announce a special celebratory event marking the 175th anniversary of their historic lodge. This momentous occasion will take place on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, and will be an opportunity for members past and present, as well as the greater Waukegan community, to honor and reflect on the lodge's enduring legacy.The celebration will commence with the ceremony beginning at 1:00 PM at the lodge's historic home, located at 127 N. Genesee St., Waukegan, IL 60085. Attendees will then gather at that time for a grand ceremony featuring the rededication of the lodge by the Grand Lodge of Illinois, AF&AM. After the ceremony RW:. Robert H. Johnson will provide a brief history of Waukegan Lodge No. 78, followed by the much-anticipated opening of a time capsule by RW:. Carl Donahue.
After the rededication ceremony, Freemasons and special guests are invited to the Historic Genesee Theater for a reception from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The reception will feature a cash bar and a selection of heavy hors d'oeuvres. This will be a perfect opportunity for fellowship and reminiscing amongst attendees.
Limited quantities of exclusive 175th Anniversary Coins, Lapel Pins, Tie Bars, and various apparel items will be available for purchase at the event.
Celebrating a Storied History
Waukegan Lodge No. 78 has been a cornerstone of the Waukegan community since its establishment 175 years ago. The lodge has a rich heritage of promoting brotherhood, charity, and the moral and personal development of its members. Over the years, the Freemasons of Waukegan have been involved in numerous philanthropic efforts, contributing to the betterment of the local community and fostering a spirit of unity and service.
