About the Author

Doreen Murphy was born in the midst of the bombing of London during World War II. Following her father's death, her mother remarried a physically abusive man, who, when Doreen was a teenager, took the family to South Africa. There, she met and married a man whom she would later discover was a psychopath. For her children's sake, she remained in the marriage until his death, after being shot. Her story is one of survival and how she was able to break the cycle of abuse and find happiness with a new life in America.
