The Full Count Big Band Returns to the YM-YWHA of Union County

It’s time to dance to the beat of Swing/Big Band music as NCJW, Union County Section and the YM-YWHA of Union County invite the community to its sixth annual Swing Dance at the “Y” on Sunday, January 20, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. In the event of inclement weather, please call the “Y” at (908) 289-8112 for confirmation of event date. This FREE event is open to all for dancing or listening pleasure. We are pleased to announce that the featured band is the FULL COUNT JAZZ BAND, directed by Kenneth Fink. It is an 18 piece contemporary big band consisting of five saxes, four trombones, four trumpets and the ensemble is completed with a piano, synthesizer, bass, drums and guitar. FULL COUNT features the vocal styling of Aubry Parasolle on lead vocals The styles of play include Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich and Woody Herman. A vocalist will enhance the classic big band sound. The band is the professional division of the NJ Workshop for the Arts of Westfield.

This is the sixth year that NCJW, Union County Section and the “Y” have co-sponsored this Swing Dance with the support of a HEART Grant from the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The community is invited to this festive break from the winter blues.
Both listeners and dancers can tap their feet, sing along and dance the afternoon away as participants of all ages are encouraged to attend. The “Y” is a handicapped accessible facility with seating and adequate parking. It is located at 501 Green Lane, Union, NJ. For directions, please call the “Y” at (908) 289-8112.

This program was initiated by NCJW, Union County Section in recognition of the Senior Adult Program at the “Y”, which NCJW helped create in the 1950’s. NCJW is a volunteer organization that has been at the forefront of social change for over a century, advocating for women, children and families
