The Chopin Society Hamburg & Sachsenwald invites you to a piano recital with Michelle Candotti_.

Hamburg/Wohltorf: There are people who don't necessarily want to watch every soccer match and are looking forward to cultural alternatives during the European Championship. The Chopin Society Hamburg & Sachsenwald is making great musical offers for people who do not succumb to a "soccer mania" in the sense of Ringelnatz, starting in a week's time. You can find the Ringelnatz poem below.

She has just returned from a famous piano competition in Montreal and a subsequent concert in Warsaw and is now our guest. We are very much looking forward to a piano recital with the virtuoso pianist Michelle Candotti on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 7 pm in the Rittelmeyer-Saal, Heimhuder Str. 34 A, 20148 Hamburg. We also promise you an entertaining and lasting concert evening.

Admission is free, but a donation for the evening is expected to support young artists at the beginning of their careers.

Biography:

Michelle Candotti graduated with top marks in piano at the age of 14 from the "Dell'Abaco" Conservatory in Verona. She also completed a Master in Performance with distinction at the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Prof. Alexeev.

She has taken part in numerous piano competitions: Among others, she won the "XV Competition for the best Italian music graduates 2009/10" (which led her to record a CD in September 2011). She won second prize and the audience prize at the "A. Scriabin International Piano Competition", second prize at the "Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition", second prize at the XXIII International Chopin Competition in Rome and third prize at the "Brescia Classical International Piano Competition".

More recently, she was a semi-finalist at the "Concours musical international de Montréal", the "18th Chopin International Competition" in Warsaw, a prizewinner at the prestigious "5th Maj Lind Competition" in Helsinki, second prize at the 11th International German Pianist Award, first prize at the Steinway Steinway Förderpreis Klassik 2023 and third prize and audience prize at the "XVII International Competition Gran Prix Animato" in Paris.

She gave a concert for the President of the Italian Republic in the "Cappella Paolina" of the Quirinal Palace, which was broadcast live on national radio (RAI).

She has performed in many concerts, including at the Olimpico Theater in Vicenza, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Bucharest Athenaeum, the Manzoni Theater in Bologna, Chopin's birthplace in Żelazowa Wola and the Concert Hall in Warsaw.

She is currently studying under Prof. Palese and completing her concert exam at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg with Prof. Rutkowski.

Soccer (including variety and degeneracy)

Soccer mania is a disease
but rare, thank God!
I know someone who suffered acutely
from soccer mania and soccer rage.
As soon as he found an object
in the shape of a ball and similar,
he kicked at it and with force
into the colorful neighborhood.
Whether it was a swallow's nest, a jar,
a cheese, globe or hedgehog,
a jug, a piece of jewelry on the altar,
a bowling ball, a cushion,
and who the object belonged to,
that was something that didn't bother him.
Soon he was driving a pig's bladder,
soon stiff hats through the street.
Then again with practiced momentum
he pushed his foot into horse manure.
He played sport with sponge and soap.
The lamp dome broke immediately.
The night harness flew purposefully
to Aunt Berta's chest.
No means of defense would do,
not barbed wire in boot tops,
nor buffers attached to the outside.
He always won, 0 to 8,
and continued to practice fresh, pious, free
With skull and ostrich egg.
Frightened by his wild thrusts,
he was never given potato dumplings.
Even in front of his wife's bottom and breasts
and the woman's breasts,
which, however, as a man of class
out of politeness.
On the other hand, a rind stomach
gave the butcher cause for complaint.
What happened at the vegetable market

He found the earth even bigger.
He wrestled with a number of problems.
First of all: how to get a running start?
Then he embarked from the balcony
into a balloon.
And remained in the air from then on,
lost. He deflated himself. -
I warn you, brothers Jahns,
against the use of soccer madness!

The Chopin Society Hamburg & Sachsenwald e.V., with over 120 members, has set itself the task of bringing Chopin's work and that of his musical and intellectual role models, contemporaries and heirs to the widest possible audience by organizing concerts of the highest quality in an effort to capture Chopin as an extraordinary pianist and composer with a previously unheard musical language, to experience him in authentic soundscapes and to present and understand him against the cultural-historical and political background of his time.
The association is the organizer of the Chopin Festival Hamburg (www.chopin-festival.de). It supports young artists on their way to an international career.
Together with its partners, it has nevertheless provided musicians with alternative performance opportunities at a time when hardly any public concerts could be played, and has thus not lost contact with members and friends despite concert cancellations, but has continued to play music LIVE at a high level and offer it to the public for everyone's enjoyment.
