100 weeks of international Media Vigils demanding New Ethics in Journalism

On June 6, 2024, our citizens' initiative "Lighthouse Media Evolution" will stand in front of numerous media houses for the 100th time, advocating for an open and fair dialogue about the adherence to established journalistic principles. For two years, we have been denied a fair democratic discourse on the misdevelopments in our society. Where is democracy when you really need it?

We understand very well that the leading representatives of the fourth estate have felt obligated since 1945 to protect and promote the new democratic order in the Western world.

Unfortunately, however, the forces of global special interests have exploited the principles of democratic order and over the decades have found ways to undermine this common good interest. In our current information age, however, these illegal methods can rarely be completely hidden. Those who invest the necessary time to research and publish these methods know the reasons why our societies have become increasingly divided over the years.

Our independent citizens' initiative aims to build bridges here and demand the democratic principles of open discourse at eye level. It is primarily about regaining trust in a functioning separation of powers.

Engaging in dialogues on public platforms would help rebuild trust in the mainstream media. In over 20 exploratory talks with German public broadcasters and private newspapers over the past two years, many areas were addressed in which the responsible editors were not aware of important issues, particularly those concerning geopolitical contexts.

It is our responsibility towards our children and the future of our democratic order to engage in this important dialogue. All societal forces can make a valuable contribution to a return to our core values.

Citizens' Initiative Lighthouse Media Evolution - Working Group for Honest Discourse
- We aim to engage in a dialogue at eye level for the benefit of courageous and independent journalism.
- We are organizing a legal stop of mandatory fee payments due to proven bias of the public broadcasters.
- We are strong proponents of the mandatory fee for a multipolar public broadcasting service of the future as a societal obligation.
- Our goal is a world where all global conflicts are resolved without violence at round tables.
- Our goal is a functioning separation of powers to protect our democratic order.
