How to motivate yourself and others even in difficult times

Stress and excessive demands are common in the current world of work. The challenges are huge: a shortage of skilled workers, increasing digitalization, Generation Z, which is causing headaches for many employers and much more. In these times in particular, mental strength, resilience and self-motivation are indispensable qualities for long-term performance and health. Mental strength is much more than just ambitiously achieving one goal after another. Mental strength is the basis for motivation, fitness and health. The basis of mental strength is resilience. But what exactly is mental strength and how can it be used in a professional context to not only survive, but to remain motivated and productive?

What is mental strength anyway?

Mental strength is the ability to master difficult situations with resilience, confidence and perseverance while remaining strong. This requires positive thought patterns, which are more than just making light of unpleasant situations. Positive thought patterns can activate inner sources of strength. This inner strength is an indispensable ally, especially in times of uncertainty.

Mental strength and self-motivation

Self-motivation is a key aspect of mental strength. The ability to drive and inspire yourself is crucial to achieving goals and overcoming hurdles. But how do you develop this skill? Keynote speaker and author Daniela Landgraf describes various pillars to get there in her book "Mentale Stärke gewinnt". Three of these pillars are: Awareness, Acceptance and Trust.

Three important pillars for mental strength and self-motivation

* Awareness of your own thoughts and feelings, your inner drivers and your actual strengths. Many people are hardly aware of their true strengths because these strengths are so natural to them that they cannot see them as strengths.
* Acceptance of circumstances that cannot be changed. Acceptance that other people have different perceptions and different truths. Everyone sees the world through their own lens, shaped by their experiences, current emotions, beliefs, fixed assumptions and evaluations about the world. For more ease and joy, the following applies: Change the situation or your attitude towards it (Daniela Landgraf).
* Trust that what is happening is in some way good and right. In this context, Daniela Landgraf likes to turn a well-known saying around by saying: "Control is good, trust is better." Sometimes detours are good for gaining important experience or getting to know certain people. A stop sign is sometimes important in order to pause and question whether the path you are taking is the right one.

Keynote speaker Daniela Landgraf presents these and other important pillars in her talk "Mental strength wins". She provides practical tips and shows simple exercises to develop mental strength and increase self-motivation. Daniela Landgraf, who has undergone an impressive journey of personal development herself, shares effective methods that anyone can use to start developing their inner strength and boosting their self-motivation right away. Her approaches are directly applicable to everyday life and provide inspiration and motivation for anyone who wants to build their mental strength.

Summary

Developing mental strength is not just an individual task. Companies play a central role by creating an environment that promotes the mental health and well-being of their employees. From flexible working models to mental wellbeing programs, there are numerous measures companies can take to boost the mental strength of their teams. In conclusion, fostering mental strength and motivation is an ongoing journey for both individuals and organizations. Mental strength, resilience and self-motivation are important factors that make the difference and ensure fulfillment, ease and success in both professional and private life.
