Cadmium zinc telluride, English name cadmium zinc telluride, CdZnTe, abbreviated as CZT. CZT crystal is a wide band gap II-VI group compound semiconductor, which can be regarded as a solid solution of CdTe and ZnTe. With the different amount of Zn added, the melting point varies between 1092 and 1295 degrees Celsius. Compared with silicon and germanium detectors, CZT is a unique semiconductor because CZT works at room temperature and can process> 10 million photons/sec/mm². In addition, the spectral resolution of CZT is significantly better than any commercially available scintillator. The unique combination of spectroscopy and extremely high count rate at room temperature makes CZT an ideal detector solution for medical, industrial, homeland security and laboratory applications. CZT crystal is widely used as the epitaxial substrate of infrared detector HgCdTe and room temperature nuclear radiation detector.
