Erfan Nouraee releases his book "Invention: A Journey"

Erfan Nouraee releases his book "Invention: A Journey"

The 21-year-old inventor Erfan Nouraee - creator of seven iconic inventions - is launching his first book.

The memoir "Invention: A Journey," by Nouraee, explores the dreams and successes of a young inventor.

Among the highlights are Nouraee's memories and observations about ideas, entrepreneurship, and patents.

The launch is scheduled for the evening of next Wednesday, April. 30, at the Toronto public library bookstore in Toronto. Nouraee hopes it will inspire a new generation of young innovators to come up with their own solutions.

Nouraee said he was inspired to create an advanced fiber-optic communication sensor after seeing how the lack of internet access in rural and remote areas in his home country has prevented their community to access education and health services.

"I went on the internet and I found that a third of the world's population is still without access to high-speed internet. It was then that I knew I had to do something," he added.

His sensor has proven accurate 95 percent of the time and is  more sensitive than current sensors.

Nouraee, who was the winner of the Khwarizmi Youth Award, said he plans to refine the device further. Eventually, he hopes to sell the sensor to anyone living in rural or remote areas where connectivity has been unreliable or completely unavailable. His sensor would help every community connect to the high-speed, reliable Internet, and he plans to continue his goal to "save lives and make the world a better place."

Erfan Nouraee: The 22-Year-Old Scientist Using Tech To Change Lives
The digital divide in education creates worse academic outcomes for underserved students. But one Iranian undergraduate may have revolutionized high-speed internet access after inventing a sensor that can make broadband available and affordable for rural communities. Erfan Nouraee, 21, took inspiration from a friend living in a rural community without internet access and after a few months of research on the web came up with a product called the Photon Detector. He has
