CMDB360 unifies federated CMDB information by linking to your existing trusted IT management, asset, and configuration data sources in real-time to aggregate and automatically formulate an intuitive dashboard model of the underlying IT configuration.

Key Drivers Include Premier Business Service Management Vendor’s Strength in Integration, Modularity and Top-Down Approach to CMDB

McLEAN, Va., – December 4, 2007 – Managed Objects, the Business Service Management (BSM) Company, today announced the State of South Carolina has selected CMDB360™ to obtain a single federated view of its IT enterprise. The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) project is being championed by the State CIO, and will enable South Carolina to visually model information about its IT infrastructure components – understand the interdependencies among these components – and to proactively monitor and manage accurate, real-time information across its IT services. This allows IT operations to lower the risk of IT outages caused by changes to its infrastructure, whether planned or unplanned, and accelerates its adoption of ITIL best practices.

Market research has found that up to 80% of IT outages are caused by human error that stems from both planned and unplanned IT changes, as well as shortfalls in testing and process inadequacies. Managed Objects CMDB360 allows enterprises to easily and accurately determine the potential impact of planned changes prior to implementation in a production environment. Similarly, should outages arise from unplanned changes or for any other reason, such as fault failures, Managed Objects allows IT operations to quickly find the root cause of IT outages or degradations – often before performance, availability or end-user satisfaction are adversely affected.

“The Division of the State CIO’s mission is to deliver cost-effective services for citizens, business, and government organizations throughout the great State of South Carolina,” said Dr. Jim Bryant, the State CIO. “We believe a combination of best practices and enabling technologies such as Managed Objects’ CMDB360 will enable us to continue dealing effectively with future challenges and embrace innovation in the ever-evolving world of technology.”

A key reason South Carolina selected CMDB360 – among a highly competitive landscape of vendors – is Managed Objects’ core competency in federated data integration. Managed Objects’ agnostic and vendor-neutral approach allows South Carolina to get the best of both worlds: to simultaneously consolidate multiple IT management tools – including CA Service Desk, Microsoft MOM and Cisco Works – without jettisoning the value of those existing investments.

Automatically integrating and reconciling real-time federated sources of IT management data into an intuitive and accurate visual model of IT infrastructure components are prerequisites for building a comprehensive CMDB. Managed Objects CMDB technology expertise takes these fundamental requirements a step further by providing customers with a flexible, modular and top-down approach that guides simple, efficient and scalable implementations.

"Forrester recommends a ‘just enough’ approach, which is a top-down approach focusing on the specific information needed to support a particular business process or application," wrote Forrester Research Analyst Evelyn Hubbert in an October 2007 research note titled, CMDB: Get Ready, Get Set, Go! "You can add more information later, as the project grows to encompass more management functions and business processes and applications."

“South Carolina’s top-down approach to building a CMDB, in alignment with the principles of ITIL, is as visionary as it is cost effective,” said Siki Giunta, President and CEO of Managed Objects. “South Carolina’s Division of the State CIO sets an exemplary model among government IT organizations, and we are proud to count them among our growing roster of thought-leading customers.”
