"I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." - The Inaugural Oath
This oath of honor, integrity, and merit has been spoken by 46 elected Executive Chairman of the United States, but it doesn't speak of age; other than the United States Constitution law of the minimum age of 35 in order to be elected to serve. On April 30, 1789 the first president was elected; he is known as George Washington. His age as he spoke the inaugural oath was 57; he made a statement referring to the importance of duty- "Perseverance, and spirit have done wonders in all ages." Does age degrade mental clarity as human beings become elderly? According to Columbia Mailman School of Public Health brain functions tend to decline as human beings age for example memory processing, and spatial awareness. In modern times currently many Americans consider age a hindrance while performing duties as an elected executive chairman of the United States. The historical records revealed that the youngest elected president was Theodore Roosevelt, who, at age 42, took his oath of executive office. On November 20th the current executive chairman will become 81 years of age. Is he too old to be elected for a second term? Many Americans have replied with a shout, " Yes!" As of 2023, the oldest executive chairman before Biden was the famous Ronald Wilson Reagan at the age of 77. As the world is at war in east Europe, and the Middle East will age have an impact on the decisions that may affect many lives?
"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master." - General George Washington
